Intoxicated Driver Collides with Pedestrian
On Friday September 2, at approximately 6:37 p.m. Chino Police responded to an injury traffic collision at the intersection of Central Avenue and Francis Avenue. The collision involved a solo vehicle and pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation indicates John Colaianni, age 67 of Chino, was traveling northbound on Central Avenue in a Ford Edge when he collided with a pedestrian, Robert King, age 65, of Chino. King was traveling eastbound on foot, crossing the street.
King suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment. Colaianni, uninjured was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for driving while impaired, causing injury. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
During the investigation, a portion of the intersection was closed for approximately three hours as members of the Chino Police Department Traffic Unit completed their investigation.
