Chino PD and FBI Re-Issue Video of AK-47 Bandit to Generate Leads

Four years ago, a bank robber, known as the AK-47 Bandit, shot a Chino Police Officer during a bank robbery in the city of Chino.  Chino Police, in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has re-issued an updated video on the AK-47 Bandit in an effort to generate leads on the identity and whereabouts of the AK-47 Bandit.

The updated video highlights the cross-country crime spree of the AK-47 Bandit that began in Chino on February 29, 2012.  During the 2012 robbery, located at the California Bank and Trust in Chino (5455 Riverside Drive), the suspect, wearing body armor and carrying an AK-47 assault rifle, shot and severely injured a Chino Police Officer.

Since that initial robbery, the AK-47 Bandit has committed five additional robberies and one attempted robbery in the states of California, Washington, Idaho, Nebraska and Iowa. The most recent robbery occurred on July 28, 2015 in Mason City, Iowa.

“The AK-47 Bandit is a dangerous and violent,” states Chino Police Chief Karen Comstock. “This case remains a priority for our department and we will relentlessly pursue every lead until he is brought to justice.”
