Commercial Vehicle Inspections
Chino Police partnered with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and surrounding agencies to conduct commercial vehicle inspections this morning, December 13, 2016 in the 6300 block of Edison Avenue.
Commercial inspections are utilized to prevent and identify mechanical defects, which are a major factor in commercial vehicle collisions. They are also used to ensure that commercial vehicles are properly equipped operate safely on local streets, including, the proper regulation of loads and hazardous materials. Licensing and registration are also verified as part of commercial inspections.
The partnership resulted in 119 commercial vehicles inspections. Seven vehicles were immediately ordered out of service due to serious safety concerns. A total of seventy six citations were issued for various violations such as; vehicle registration, licensing, carrier permits, weight, securement, HazMat and equipment issues).
The city of Chino and Chino Police Department are dedicated to the safety of the public, especially the motorists traveling streets and roads within the city limits. The Traffic Unit routinely conducts commercial vehicle inspections and enforcement operations. These operations are to ensure all loads are delivered in the most safe and efficient manner, while also educating commercial drivers on the applicable laws.
