The Community Services Department provides residents with a complete system of community and neighborhood parks, trails and facilities, along with a wide range of recreational opportunities for the constructive use of leisure time. The Department also provides a unique balance of human services programs that assist individuals, youth and families. Recreation and human services programs provided by the Department focus on youth and the family with emphasis on providing positive alternatives and directions. Services for the senior citizen population are provided in a safe and friendly atmosphere with a balance of recreational and social activities offered. The Community Development Block Grant and Volunteer programs are also administered by Community Services.

The Department is also responsible for the expansion, renovation and construction of community and city-owned facilities.
