We are already halfway through our Centennial year of celebration and the City Council and I hope that you and your family will join us for Chino’s Freedom Festival at Ayala Park next Saturday, July 3rd from 2:00 – 9:00 p.m. We have an amazing day planned for you! The all-day festival will kick off at 2:00 p.m. with games; a kids zone; food and craft vendors; FREE carnival rides; live entertainment; a spectacular fireworks show; and more.
Chino’s Freedom Festival is our third large-scale signature Centennial Celebration and although we have held Freedom Festivals in the past, we have bolstered this year’s event to make it more spectacular than ever. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs and blankets, as we hope you will spend the whole day celebrating Independence Day with us.
We will wrap up the year-long Centennial Celebration at our fourth and final signature event: Chino’s Centennial Youth Christmas Parade and Fair, which will take place on Saturday, December 11th. Please check the City’s website at www.cityofchino.org for the latest Centennial Celebration information, as we will be providing more details as this final celebration draws closer.
Thanks to the hard work of our 100-plus member Centennial Advisory Committee, I am sure we will finish out the year as strongly as we started it back in February at the Happy Birthday Chino – 100 Years of Progress event. The Advisory Committee continues to amaze me with all of its hard work and continued efforts. Led by Chairperson Linda Takeuchi, this dedicated group has planned four, large scale Centennial Celebrations and raised over $120,000, all while engaging our residents, the business community, and our youth. I would also like to thank our generous Centennial Sponsors; without your financial support, our year-long celebration would not have been possible. Thank you all for making 2010 a Centennial year to remember!
I hope to see you all next Saturday at Chino’s Freedom Festival where we will celebrate Independence Day like never before!
