Stay Cool in Chino this Weekend and Throughout the Summer
With high temperatures arriving this weekend, the City of Chino invites residents to stay cool and “Beat the Heat” at one of three locations. The City has once again designated three facilities as “cooling centers” to accommodate those seeking relief when temperatures reach or exceed 100 degrees. The following locations are places to cool down this weekend and during the hot days of summer:
The Chino Senior Center, located at 13170 Central Avenue, is the only cooling center in operation seven days a week; open Monday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sundays. The Senior Center is open to all ages while functioning as a cooling center.
The Neighborhood Activity Center (NAC) is equipped with a TV room and areas to play games. Located at 5201 D Street, the center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The Preserve Community Center offers open gym activities and is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Save on your electricity bill and utilize one of these centers today!
If you need to be outside, reduce your exposure to the sun from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., when UV rays are the strongest. Drink plenty of fluids, keep physical activities to a minimum, and take rest breaks in the shade. Stay cool by wearing loose fitting clothing and wearing a hat for protection from the sun; remember to apply sunscreen regularly. Never leave infants, children, frail elderly people, or pets in an unattended car.
