Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

The City's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program provides Chino residents with a safe and convenient disposal option for common household products containing chemicals. These chemicals can pollute our air, property and drinking water, as well as potentially harm children, pets and local wildlife.

HHW cannot be disposed of as solid waste (trash), or in sewers or recycling programs because of their potential dangers. The labels of common HHW materials usually contain words such as:





Items commonly accepted include:

  • Electronic waste
  • Household generated motor oil & oil filters
  • Antifreeze & gasoline
  • Auto & household batteries
  • Pesticides & fertilizers
  • Paint products; inc. thinners & stains
  • Chemical cleaners
  • Outdated medications (no controlled substances)
  • Pool & hobby supplies
  • Fluorescent bulbs & tubes
  • Thermostats
  • Mercury thermostats
  • Mercury gauges
  • Non-empty aerosol cans
  • Tires (on & off the rim)

Items NOT accepted include:

  • Business wastes
  • Explosives
  • Medical wastes
  • Radioactive wastes
  • Yard wastes
  • Appliances (large)
  • Furniture
  • Reactives
  • Asbestos

Open the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month 
8am to 1pm

No business waste will be accepted.
