MULTI-FAMILY RECYCLING AND WASTE REDUCTION
Implementing recycling in your multi-family neighborhood will assist the City of Chino in complying with Assembly Bill 939 (AB 939) mandates. AB 939 requires localities in California to reduce the amount of waste going to the landfills by 50%.
The City of Chino has created a comprehensive recycling and waste reduction program designed specifically for use in multi-family neighborhoods.
Program Goals:1.) Reduce the volume of trash going to the landfill.
2.) Ensure community participation through education and communication.
3.) Potentially reduce or stabilize overall waste costs.
To schedule an on-site waste audit, please call (909) 464-0758. Based on availability, the City offers Free indoor recycling containers, tote bags, and education outreach materials such as magnets and brochures for residents.
New: Mandatory Organics Recycling
Starting April 2016, the State’s Mandatory Organic Waste Recycling law (AB 1826) will require businesses that generate 8 cubic yards of organic waste (food or green waste) to arrange for organic waste recycling services. Effective January 2017, this requirement will extend to businesses that generate 4 cubic yards of organic waste.
Organic waste as defined in the law includes the following material: food waste, green waste, landscape and pruning waste, nonhazardous wood waste, and food-soiled paper waste that is mixed in with food waste. These categories represent the largest subsets of organic waste that is currently disposed in California.
Waste Management, the City's franchised waste and recycling hauler, offers commercial recycling services. Diverting recyclable material from your regular trash may reduce your monthly solid waste expenses because disposal costs for recyclables are lower than trash.
