Fair Housing Services

The City of Chino provides fair housing services to its residents through an on-going partnership with the Inland Fair Housing and Mediation Board (IFHMB). Funded in part by the City of Chino, the IFHMB provides the following services to Chino residents.

Housing Discrimination Investigation

It is illegal to discriminate based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, the number/presence of children, age, or physical handicap. IFHMB investigates discrimination complaints and works in partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) in fighting discrimination in housing.

Landlord / Tenant Rights & Dispute Resolution

Mediation is often a useful tool to promote the resolution of landlord/tenant disagreements and avoid needless litigation. The Inland Fair Housing and Mediation Board (IFHMB) provides information on landlord and tenant rights and responsibilities under the California Civil Code, and also provides mediation services including small claims and unlawful detainer lawsuit mediation to Chino residents.

Filing Complaints

If you feel that a landlord or property manager has denied you housing based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, the number/presence of children, age or physical handicap, you can file a complaint with the Inland Fair Housing and Mediation Board. To file a fair housing complaint, or to receive additional information about the services provided by the IFHMB, please call 909-984-2254 or 800-321-0911, or visit the IFHMB website.
