Since 1981, the City of Chino has contracted with the Inland Valley Humane Society (IVHS) for all animal care support.

IVHS provides the following to the Chino community:

- Animal Control

- Licensing

- Low Cost Veterinary Services

- Lost and Found

- Community Outreach, and

- Behavior Assistance

Additionally, the city has partnered with IVHS on the 'Getting to Zero' program, which aims to end the euthanizing of healthy and treatable cats and dogs in our community.

Beyond providing a wide range of services benefiting the health and safety of animals and Chino residents, IVHS also administers the Chino Municipal Code as it relates to local ordinances including licensing and vaccination requirements.

Per the Chino Municipal Code, Section 6.08.020, Each dog, over the age of four months, harbored within the city shall be vaccinated for rabies and licensed. The owner or harbor of such dog shall be required to present to the enforcing officer, upon request, a valid license and vaccination certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian.

Dog License Canvassing

The Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA will be canvassing for dog licenses in the City of Chino this month (April 2021). This will be a contactless canvass with no door knocking. However, if a resident would like to speak with a License Inspector, we ask that they abide by social distancing and wear a mask for everyone's protection.

License inspectors will be driving their personal vehicles and will carry a badge. Their uniform consists of dark blue pants, a dark blue polo shirt with the IVHS & SPCA logo, a dark blue hat, also with the shelter's logo and a face mask.
