Sergeant Terminated by Chino PD Pleads No Contest

San Bernardino County, CA – On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, former Chino Police Sergeant Jason Bemowski pled no contest to a felony charge of 261.5(c) PC - unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor who is more than three years younger. His sentencing is scheduled for April 27, 2021 in the San Bernardino County Superior Court.

This plea stemmed from Mr. Bemowski’s March 7, 2019 arrest by the Roseville Police Department related to his off-duty involvement in a human trafficking investigation involving a 16-year-old female victim.

Over the course of this investigation, the Chino Police Department cooperated fully with investigators from the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office and the Roseville Police Department. The Chino Police Department also conducted an internal administrative investigation into the charges against Mr. Bemowski, which resulted in his termination in 2019.

Chino Police Chief Wes Simmons stated, “The Chino Police Department is committed to our community and we do not take their trust for granted. Using full transparency, we demonstrated our commitment to accountability during this unique situation. I am grateful for the efforts of the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office and their successful prosecution of this case. The Chino Police Department holds itself to the highest of standards and the actions of this former sergeant are not indicative of the incredible men and women who currently work at the Chino Police Department. This situation does demonstrate that we will not hesitate to hold our own personnel accountable if they fail to meet our high standards and the expectations our community demands of their officers.”
