The City of Chino is proud to offer before and after school recreation-based programs for school-aged children attending Chino Valley Unified Schools.  The programs are offered during the school year, including a year-round program servicing Cal Aero Preserve Academy.  Participants will have the opportunity to take part in well-rounded programs that include homework help, cooking, crafts, games, sports, and more.  For more information, call one of the locations below and visit us in person to register.

Sunrise Kids

Sunrise Kids is a recreation based, before school program offered only to students attending Cal Aero Preserve Academy.  Trained staff provide a safe, caring, and educational environment for children enrolled in morning Kindergarten through 8th grade from 6:00 a.m. until school begins.  Participants will enjoy activities like morning stretch/exercise, quiet time, a light snack, and more.

         $28 per child

Weekly Fees:
         $68 per child

Pre-registration is required to attend and is available online. Space is limited and daily/weekly fees must be paid in advance of attending.

High Five

High Five

High FiveHigh Five provides recreation activities, educational enhancement, and homework assistance.  Planned activities are fun, challenging, and developmentally appropriate for each student.  The program is available for students in afternoon Kindergarten–6 grade at Howard Cattle (P.M. Kindergarten only at Cattle) and Newman Elementary schools, and afternoon-Kindergarten-8 grade at Preserve Community Center.  The program is held Monday – Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m.  Snacks are provided.

Weekly Fees:

  • Five days a week regular fees: $45
  • Five days a week reduced fees: $20

Session Fees:

  • Four week session fees: $150
  • Four week session reduced fees: $60

The program is not offered when school is closed.  Reduced fees are offered to children who meet the CVUSD qualifications for free and reduced lunch.

Registration is open and must be completed in advance of attending.  Weekly or session fees must be paid before the participant may attend the program.

Students On A Rise (SOAR)


kids in a circle Students on a Rise (SOAR) is a grant funded program in collaboration between the Chino Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) and the City of Chino. The program provides enrichment activities to create an enthusiasm for learning and increased student success in the areas of reading, writing, verbal, mathematics, social science, science, and the arts.  Planned activities are fun, challenging, and developmentally appropriate for each student.   The program is available for students in grades 1st – 6th and enrollment in the program requires attending five days a week, Monday – Friday, from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m.  Snacks are provided.

Ramona Afterschool Academic Progam (RAAP)


Ramona Afterschool Academic Program (RAAP) is free to students attending Ramona Junior High School.  Participants enjoy a fun and safe after school environment, while receiving homework assistance and participating in enrichment and recreational activities.

This program is for students in grades 7th-8th and offered Monday-Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m.
