Chino Storm Update - February 6

The City of Chino is actively monitoring the ongoing storm and is committed to keeping our residents informed and safe. Please review the following updates regarding city services and safety advisories:

Road Closures: There are no road closures at this time.

Weather Advisory: According to the National Weather Service, the area will continue to experience rainfall today, with the possibility of thunderstorms and heavier rainfall anticipated after 10:00 a.m. Residents are advised to prepare accordingly and stay informed about the latest weather updates.

Street Sweeping Services Suspended: In response to the current weather conditions, all street sweeping operations are temporarily suspended. This precautionary measure will remain in effect until the storm subsides to ensure the safety of both our employees and residents.

Waste Management Operations: Despite the adverse weather conditions, Waste Management teams are making every effort to maintain regular collection schedules. Residents are advised to place their carts out as usual but should anticipate potential delays due to the storm.

Reporting Infrastructure Issues: We encourage residents to report any storm-related debris, potholes, or other infrastructure concerns through our official reporting system at cityofchino.org/report. Your reports are invaluable in helping us address issues promptly.

Power Outage Information: For residents experiencing power outages, updates can be found on the Southern California Edison website at www.sce.com/outage. We recommend keeping a flashlight and batteries readily available during the storm.

Driving Safety Reminder: The City urges all drivers to proceed with extra caution during the storm. Allow additional travel time and strictly avoid driving through flooded areas. Remember, in flood conditions, it is safest to "Turn Around, Don't Drown."

Sandbag Availability: In preparation for the potential impact of the storm, the Chino Valley Fire District is providing free sandbags to residents. Scroll down to the initial update for locations.

CHINO, CA (February 2, 2024) – In anticipation of the upcoming storm heading toward Southern California, the City of Chino advises residents to take necessary precautions. 

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Inland Empire, which will be in effect from Sunday, February 4, to Tuesday, February 6. The heaviest showers are expected to hit Chino from Sunday evening to Tuesday afternoon.  

The Chino Valley Fire District will be offering sandbags at no cost to residents. Please note you must fill your own sandbags at the filling sites. Sandbags are available at the following locations:

  • Fire Station 61 – 5078 Schaefer Avenue, Chino. 
  • Fire Station 63 – 7550 Kimball Avenue, Chino.  
  • Fire Station 67 – 5980 Riverside Drive, Chino.  

The City of Chino advises the community to take the following precautions during the upcoming storm: 

  • Sign up for Chino Notify, the City of Chino’s emergency notification system, at cityofchino.org/chinonotify  
  • Avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm times. 
  • Report city tree maintenance and debris at cityofchino.org/report or call (909) 334-3266 
  • Pay attention to road closures and avoid driving through flooded areas. Remember: turn around, don’t drown! 
  • Stay away from downed power lines and report them immediately here.
